Dog Success Stories

Ruby Rehomed 19 May

"Ruby is a 5 month old staffy pup who was due to be put to sleep the day
after we took her into one of our foster homes.  With help from
Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue
http://www.sbtrescue.co.uk Ruby was quickly offered a
forever home in Cambridgeshire, with an experienced staffy couple.  Ruby
has already settled in her new home and will share it from time to time
with staffies being fostered."

Benji Rehomed 19 May

Benji is a 12 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was found as a stray in the city.  It was thought that he had been clipped by a car, but no injuries were found. Benji has gone to a fantastic new home in Wales, where his new owners love him to bits"

Ray Rehomed May

We collected Ray from a police station after he had been found as a
stray.  He was fostered for a few weeks, during which time he picked up
basic commands amazingly quickly.  He was soon rehomed at a lovely pub
in the countryside, and we recently received photos and an update from
his owner. They have just spent a week together at the coast and Ray
loved it.  He has settled really well and apparently they are an unstoppable team!

Max rehomed

Max is a 12 month old Yorkshire Terrier cross breed dog.  He was a stray who came to us via the dog warden.  Max is a very cheeky little chap with lots of character who gets on well with everyone, and other dogs.  It wasn’t long before Max was offered a fabulous home in Cornwall, where he has settled in extremely well.

Pickle - Big Thanks to all the donors!

Pickle was found as a stray, wandering around in a great deal of pain and limping badly.  X-rays showed that on one of her front legs, her shin bone was moving over her wrist bone, causing pain and friction every time Pickle tried to walk.  Pickle needed an operation urgently to fuse the bones together, and this needed to be carried out by an orthopaedic specialist vet.  Just as we were about to get her referred to the specialist, Pickle suddenly became very ill and was rushed to the vet’s where she was diagnosed with a womb infection.  She was spayed the following day, an operation which saved her life.  But during her recovery from this, a lump was found on Pickle’s side.  This was diagnosed as a mast cell tumour, which needed to be removed urgently.  This diagnosis came through as I was on my way to the orthopaedic specialist with Pickle for her leg surgery. Fortunately the vet was able to remove the tumour during the operation on her leg, so Pickle didn’t have to undergo yet another general anaesthetic.  Pickle is a real fighter and she has made a wonderful recovery from all of this trauma.  Her leg is healing well and in 2 weeks time she is due to go for her final check up.

The best news is that Pickle was offered a lovely home in Nottinghamshire, where she settled in immediately.  Her new owner is delighted with her, and says that Pickle has completely changed her life.  Pickle enjoys walks on the village green and enjoys meeting other dogs and the children who stop to say hello to her.  She also loves playing with her squeaky toys.

We would like to thank everyone who sent in donations to help towards Pickle’s treatment. It really is much appreciated by Pickle and everyone at AARU.

Cassie Rehomed  Feb 08

Cassie is a 2 year old female Staffie has now found a loving permanent home thanks to AARU.

Cassie came into our care in a very bad way – she was found after being thrown over a fence into a garden and was very thin and dehydrated.  She had obviously been starved for a substantial period of time.  She also had a couple of sores where she had been lying on hard ground.

JESS Rehomed

Jess came into our care after her owner had passed away. She is a lovely, friendly girl and soon found a loving home on a farm, which she shares with two cats. Jess has settled in very well and her new owners love her to bits.

Scotty Rehomed Jan 08

Scotty is a 17 year old Jack Russell who was discovered with his dead owner, 6 days after she had died.  Scotty was obviously dehydrated and following treatment at the vet’s, was given only 2 weeks to live.  However, this lovely little chap has different ideas and he is still going strong several months later!  Thanks to the Oldies Club website (www.oldies.org.uk), Scotty has been offered a loving permanent home in Warwickshire, where he will be able to spend his remaining days in the comfort that he deserves so much.
